Ontario Job Grant Funded Training

Ontario Job Grant (OJG) Overview
The Ontario Job Grant (OJG) offers employers an opportunity to train and invest in their workforce with support from the Ontario government.
The grant provides direct financial support to eligible Ontario employers who wish to purchase training for their employees, both incumbents and new hires. The grant is available to small dental practice with less than 99 employees and larger practices with over 100 employees.
Up to $15,000 per person in government support for training new hires.
Up to $10,000 per person in government support for training incumbent employees.
Employers contribute 1/6 of the total training cost for incumbent staff. Small businesses may also get 100% training funding for eligible new hires.
Training must be delivered by eligible, third-party trainer.
Employer Eligibility Requirements
An employer must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Be licensed to operate in Ontario
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act
- Maintain appropriate Workplace Safety and Insurance Board or private workplace safety insurance coverage
- Be able to contribute a minimum of 1/6 of eligible training costs in cash (if less than 100 employees) or 50% of eligibile training cost (if more than 100 employees)
- Employ the individual selected for training
- Be applying for training that is delivered in Ontario and is related to a job that is also located in Ontario
Trainee Eligibility Requirements
Eligible trainees must be:
- Be an Ontario resident
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person
- Legally authorized to work in Canada, and
- Employed with and identified by the employer applying to OJG.
Training Eligibility Requirements
Training supported through the Ontario Job Grant is driven by employer demand and must be directly related to the skill needs identified by the employer. Training must be completed within 52 weeks of training start date and must be provided by one of the following third-party providers:
- Publicly assisted college, university or Indigenous Institute in Ontario
- District School Board
- Career college and vocational program provider registered under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 (formerly known as the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005)
- Union-based training centre
- Sector Council or Industry Association
